A quick reference guide to TSA and flying with your firearm.



TSA/AIRLINE INFORMATION


GENERAL TSA RULES

• Unloaded firearms and ammunition must be locked in a hard-side container.

• Firearms, firearm parts and ammunition are prohibited in carry-on baggage, but may be checked.

• Alwavs declare your firearms when checking your bags.


UNITED AIRLINES:

• You must check in at the counter. No online check-in if you are declaring a firearm.

• Handguns and ammunition must be locked in a hard-side container.

• Customer may pack up to five firearms per bag.

• No more than 11 pounds of ammunition may be carried.

• Ammunition must be securely packaged (no loose ammo).


SOUTHWEST AIRLINES

• You must check in at the counter. No online check-in if you are declaring a firearm.

• Handguns and ammunition must be locked in a hard-side container.

• Allows multiple handguns per container.

• No more than 11 pounds of ammunition may be carried.

• Ammunition must be securely packaged (no loose ammo).

• No self-defense sprays allowed in checked bags
nor carry-ons.


AMERICAN AIRLINES

• You must check in at the counter. No online check-in if you are declaring a firearm.

• Handguns and ammunition must be locked in a hard-side container.

• No limit to how many firearms you can carry but overweight charges will apply.

• No more than 11 pounds of ammunition may be carried.

• Ammunition must be securely packaged (no loose ammo).

• Magazines must be free of ammunition.


DELTA AIRLINES

• You must check in at the counter. No online check-in if you are declaring a firearm.

• Handguns and ammunition must be locked in a hard-side container.

• One firearm per container.

• No more than 11 pounds of ammunition may be carried.

• Ammunition must be securely packaged (no loose ammo).

• Gunpowder is never permitted.

• Firearms checked as baggage must be picked up at the Baggage Service Office.


SPIRIT AIRLINES

• Firearms accepted on domestic flights only.

• You must check in at the counter.

• Handguns and ammunition must be locked in a hard-side container.

• No more than 11 pounds of ammunition may be carried.

• Ammunition must be securely packaged (no loose ammo).


FRONTIER AIRLINES

• You must check in at the counter. No online check-in if you are declaring a firearm.

• Please allow an extra 30 minutes for check-in.

• Firearms never allowed on international flights.

• Handguns and ammunition must be locked in a hard-side container.

• Allows multiple handguns per container.

• No more than 11 pounds of ammunition may be carried.


JETBLUE AIRLINES

• You must check in at the counter. No online check-in if you are declaring a firearm.

• Firearms must be locked in a hard-side container.

• Ammunition (up to 11lbs) must be securely packed separately from your firearm.

• One firearm will count as one checked bag.

• One pistol case may contain no more than 4 unloaded pistols.

• No long gun case may contain more than than 2 long guns.

• Pistol cases available for purchase at the ticket counter for $55.
